Pep Guardiola has addressed the media ahead of Manchester City's highly anticipated FA Cup final clash against Crystal Palace, providing updates on the injury situation and outlining his team's focus for the crucial encounter.

Unfortunately for City fans, the injury situation remains unchanged from last week. This means that no previously sidelined players are expected to recover in time to feature in the showpiece event at Wembley.

Despite the unchanged injury list, Guardiola emphasized the significance of reaching a third consecutive FA Cup final. "It's an honour and a privilege," he stated, highlighting the club's consistent presence at this stage of the prestigious competition. He further underlined the team's ambition, declaring that winning the FA Cup "is massively important" to Manchester City. The desire to lift the trophy is clearly a driving force as they prepare for the final hurdle.

Encouraging news, however, came regarding midfield maestro Rodri. Guardiola offered a positive update, stating that the Spaniard "is much, much better." While his availability isn't yet officially confirmed, the manager added, "I am waiting for the doctors. When they tell me he is ready he is going to start. We don't want to take a risk and take a step back." This cautious optimism suggests Rodri is likely to be fit to anchor the City midfield, a significant boost for the team's chances.

Looking ahead to the challenge posed by Crystal Palace, Guardiola was full of praise for Oliver Glasner's side. "It is a fantastic team," he acknowledged, recognizing their impressive form in the latter part of the season. He pointed to the continuity under Glasner, noting that they "have had more than a year with Oliver working with the same players," implying a well-drilled and cohesive unit.

Guardiola identified the key threats that Palace possess, particularly in attack. He stated that they "are a threat because they have quality." Specifically, he highlighted the strength of Jean-Philippe Mateta, the obvious quality of Eberechi Eze, and the pace of Ismaila Sarr. Furthermore, he acknowledged Palace's defensive solidity, describing them as "well structured defensively," and pinpointed their prowess from set pieces, labeling it "one of the best in the Premier League."

In conclusion, while Manchester City will head into the FA Cup final without any returning injured players, the positive update on Rodri offers a significant lift. Guardiola's respect for Crystal Palace is evident, acknowledging their quality and the threats they pose. The manager's words underscore the importance of the FA Cup to the club, setting the stage for a compelling and potentially challenging final at Wembley. City will need to be at their best to overcome a confident Palace side and secure another piece of silverware.
