Ederson has poured cold water on speculation over his Manchester City future, branding recent rumours “99% fake news”.
The Brazilian goalkeeper, now in the final year of his contract, made it clear he has no plans to leave the Etihad. Speaking while on duty with City in the United States for the Club World Cup, he was firm.
“My future is here,” he said. “I get sent all sorts of stories—most of them fake. I get it. People need something to post or argue over, but it’s rarely true.”
Ederson, 31, joined from Benfica in 2017 for £35 million. Since then, he’s become a cornerstone of the team, helping secure six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and a Champions League.
He was the subject of strong interest from Saudi clubs last summer and admitted in October that he’d received a big-money offer. Still, he’s stayed put.
“My head is with the club,” he said. “City gives me everything. I want to return to the Premier League and aim for another Champions League. My mind’s made up.”
Reports this week linked Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa with a potential move to Manchester. The 24-year-old Portugal international has a £64 million release clause.
Asked if Ederson might move on, Pep Guardiola was non-committal: “I don’t know. What I do know is what I see—he trains well. He’s had a brilliant decade with us. He’s been vital, on and off the pitch.”
